Four officers attached to the Dambulla police station have been interdicted for allegedly threatening a restaurateur at gun point.
Police Media Spokesman Office stated a sub inspector, two sergeants and a constable are among the suspects.
The four suspects, dressed in civvies, had visited the restaurant close to the Dambulla Economic Center last Wednesday night. They purchased a bottle of arrack.
Later the officer demanded to exchange the bottle of arrack for another brand.
Police stated that this incident had developed into an altercation and the sub inspector who was seated nearby had shown his official weapon and threatened the restaurateur.
Later other customers at the scene intervened to settle the dispute. However the restaurateur has lodged a complaint that he was threatened at gun point.
It is reported that the four officers have already been interdicted and an investigation has also been initiated under the supervision of an ASP in the area.
