Sigiri Wasp Nests To Be Covered By Nets

The Central Cultural Fund has decided to cover the area populated with wasp nests in Sigiriya rock with nets.

The Director General of the CCF, Prof. Prishantha Gunawardena noted that the new measure will ensure the safety and security of its visitors.

Number of wasp attacks have been reported from Sigiriya where as the latest attack took place last evening.

A group of school children and foreign tourists were attacked yesterday while a Japanese national and Bangladeshi monk was among the hospitalized ten.

However the CCF Director General advises future visitors to maintain silence while climbing up the summit of Sigiriya fortress.
