Interim Injunction on the Joint Opposition preventing its May Day rally at Shalika grounds

An interim injunction was issued today preventing the Joint Opposition or the members of the SLTB affiliated motor vehicle workers union from entering the Shalika grounds on May 1st.

Colombo Additional Magistrate Nishantha Peries issued the ruling after considering the facts submitted to Court by Narahenpita police following a complaint made by the SLTB Chairman.

The complaint had stated that incidents which could risk law and order could occur in the area.

Accordingly, Joint Opposition members including Wimal Weerawansa, Dinesh Gunawardana, Dalas Alahapperuma, Udaya Gammanpila and the members of the SLTB motor vehicle workers union are prohibited to enter the Shalika Ground for 14 days.
