The Minister of Law and Order and Southern Province Development has ordered the IGP to conduct a disciplinary inquiry regarding the conduct of Former Police Media Spokesperson ASP Ruwan Gunasekara.

Instructions have been given to hand over the report to Minister Sagala Rathnayake within three days.

The Minister has also instructed the IGP to ensure that the Former Police Media Spokesperson does not have any interactions with the media until he takes necessary steps upon receiving the relevant report.

The Police Media Unit was suspended with effect from the 2nd of this month after it had failed to follow instructions of the IGP.

However, IGP Pujith Jayasundara stated in Kandy yesterday that the Police Media Unit will be relaunched with a new facelift after a new code of conduct is introduced.
