A drug-trafficking plane was shot down by the Peruvian drug enforcement agents.

Officials have traded gunfire for three hours in Pichis Palcazu in Peru. A suspect has escaped and another, the pilot, was taken into police custody. He was shot and injured during the raid.
Seventy kgs of cocaine chloridate was taken in to police custody. Authorities believe that at least 200kg more were hidden by the suspects.
Peru is noted as the second largest supplier of cocaine.
