Dual Citizenship Irrespective Of Race - PM

Prime Minister (PM) Ranil Wickremesinghe revealed the government’s stance on dual citizenship in Parliament yesterday (04th).

The PM said steps will be taken to grant dual citizenship irrespective of an applicant’s race or religion.

Prime Minister Wickremesinghe said the government will adopt a policy to grant those who left the country due to the conflict after 1983, especially Lankan citizens and their descendants in India can now return to the country where they will be granted citizenship.

The Premier said restriction’s pertaining to citizenship have also been relaxed in order to facilitate applications of those who have requested for dual citizenship.
