Parliament Sitting Suspended Following Tense Situation

Tense situation prevailed in Parliament over passing of supplementary estimate; Parliament suspended for a party leaders meeting a short while ago.

Speaker Karu Jayasuriya convened a party leaders meeting after the tense situation and a four-member committee headed by Opposition leader R. Sampanthan was appointed to look into yesterday’s vote.
