The police have arrested two more students in connection with ragging a female student of Kelaniya University.
Accordingly four female students and three male students are in police custody in connection with the incident.
Police state that the suspects were produced for a medical test by the Ragama Judicial Medical Officer.
The Kiribathgoda OIC told our news team that the seven suspects will be produced before Mahara Magistrate Court today.
The victim has complained to police that she was subjected to ragging after she wore jeans while attending lectures.
She stated in her complaint that the seniors used abusive language and mentally harassed her.
SSP Deshabandu Tennakoon who is in charge of the Division stated that the suspects were arrested following the victim’s complaint.
It is said that senior students have forbidden the new recruits to wear jeans during the first year in university.
