Udawalawa+Reservoir%E2%80%99s+sluice+gates+opened

Five sluice gates at Udawalawa Reservoir was opened as the water levels were high due to the recent rains, its Chief Irrigation Engineer Thilak Ranasinghe said.

He warned that residents in low lying areas must remain vigilant.

Heavy rain is reported in Maussakele and Castlereagh catchment areas.

During the past dry season the reservoirs were drying up.
