Management at the University of Kelaniya asked the ragging victim to lodge the complaint regarding the incident to the police, its Vice Chancellor Sunanda Madduma Bandara said.
He said the decision was made as the Student Union of the university failed to adhere by their request to stop ragging.
He also said a decision was made by the UGC and Vice Chancellors of state-run universities to end the ragging culture.
Women’s Rights lawyers and Human Rights groups were invited by him to inspect into the matter.
Following her complaint three male students and four female students are in police remand.
