Thundershowers to be Expected in Several Provinces
Cloudy skies are expected over the southern half of the island due to the prevailing atmospheric disturbance in the vicinity of Sri Lanka while showers or thundershowers will occur in the sea areas off the coast extending from Colombo to Pottuvil via Galle and Hambantota in the afternoon and night.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at most places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Eastern, Uva and Southern provinces.
Thundershowers will occur at most places elsewhere particularly after 2.00 pm.
Heavy falls (around 100 mm) are also likely at some places.
In the Sea areas, winds will be North-westerly or variable in direction and speed will be 20-40 kmph.
The deep sea area to the south of Sri Lanka can be fairly rough at times as the wind speed can be strengthen up to 50 kmph at times.
Sea areas around the island will be temporarily rough during thundershowers.
