Construction work on the Rajagiriya flyover is to begin in July this year, the Government announced today.
Deputy Foreign Minister Harsh de Silva said that soon the public will be able to save 50% of time spent from Nelum Pokuna to Battaramulla.
“It gives me great pleasure to announce that as an interim solution to the total traffic solution in the Megapolis plan, we will soon start work on the Rajagiriya Flyover. Work is scheduled to begin in July 2016 and end in January 2018,” he said.
The Deputy Minister said that the project is financed via a soft loan from the Government of Spain.
Harsh de Silva said the flyover has been something he fought for a long time and he is now happy that construction work will finally begin.
