The atmospheric disturbance in the vicinity of Sri Lanka is likely to develop further, the Department of Meteorology stated.
‘Under its influence windy and showery weather over the country and surrounding sea area is expected to be enhanced by today (14) evening. Cloudy skies are also expected over the most parts of the island due to the atmospheric disturbance,’ it added.
Showers or thundershowers can be experienced in most places in the Western, Southern, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva and Eastern provinces.
Heavy falls (around 150 mm) are also likely at some places, particularly in the southern half of the island.
Public was asked to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity due to temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers.
