India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi held bilateral discussions with the visiting Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena on a range of issues including ways to boost trade and a permanent solution for the fishermen issue.
Prime Minister Modi also assured President Sirisena that India will continue to assist Sri Lanka’s reconciliation programme.
Hosting a working dinner for the Sri Lankan President, who is on a two-day visit to India, at the Hyderabad House yesterday, the Indian Prime Minister discussed all major bilateral issues, particularly problems being faced by Indian fishermen, status of various economic projects being implemented by India in the island nation and steps to further increase trade and investment.
President Sirisena arrived in New Delhi to attend the Simhastha Mahakumbha mela and Modi will accompany him during the visit.
The Sri Lankan President will also visit the famous Sanchi Stupa in Raisen district of Madhya Pradesh.
