Institution issuing forged documents raided

An institution that has being issuing forged birth certificates, identity cards and passports was operating near the court complex in Aluthkade.

Operating through brokers, the institution charges Rs. 10,000 to issue a birth certificate.

The operation was led by an official at the Registrar General’s Department.

A man posing as a person in need of a birth certificate was sent to the institution during a raid led by head of Central Anti-Corruption Unit in Panadura-Walana Duminda Balasuriya.
