Police have advised drivers to use fog lights when driving in the western slopes of central hills due to the heavy mist and fog forming in the area.

According to the Department of Meteorology, more showers are expected due to the prevailing depression around the island.

Accordingly, torrential showers up to 150 mm can be expected, while the wind speeds in sea areas may likely increase up to 70 to 80 kmph.

Fourteen houses at an estate in Ambagamuwa, Nuwara Eliya district have been partially damaged due to the prevailing inclement weather.

The Disaster Management Centre noted that 63 persons who were affected due to this reason have been sheltered at a Kovil in the area.

The National Building Research Organization today issued a landslide warning to Monaragala and Badulla districts for the next 24 hours, due to the prevailing inclement weather.
