Three persons are reported missing following a landslide in Deniswaththa area in Dehiowita, Kegalle.
The Disaster Management Centre also stated that a 52 year old person is missing after getting caught up in the currents of the Ma Oya in Kegalle, Ranwala area.
Meanwhile, due to the inclement weather, landslide warnings have been issued to 9 districts.
According to the National Building Research Organization, the districts are Matale, Badulla, Moneragala, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Ratnapura, Kegalle, Kaluthara and Kurunegala.
Also three flights belonging to Jet Airways, Malindo Airways and Fly Dubai bound to the Bandaranaike International Airport were redirected to other Airports.
The Irrigation Department states that Kalu River, Maduru Oya and Mahawali River are overflowing due to heavy rainfall.
The Department of Meteorology states that the low pressure area is moving away from the island, hence rainy conditions over the island will decrease. However strong wind conditions will continue over the next few days.
Heavy rainfalls exceeding 150 millimetres are likely in several regions, particularly in the North, North Central, North Western provinces.
Showers or thunder showers will occur at time in Western, Central, Sabaragamuwa, Uva provinces and Galle and Matara districts.
Duty Meteorologist Malinda Villangoda requested that the General public take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Defence has declared several emergency contact numbers for the public to obtain emergency services.
