The Health ministry states that there is a high risk of water borne diseases spreading due to the torrential rains and floods.

Addressing a media conference held in Colombo this morning, Health Services Director General Dr. Palitha Mahipala urges the public to take necessary precautions when using water for consumption or for the preparation of food.

He also warned those suffering from respiratory diseases to seek medical advice as the wet weather could affect them adversely.
