Kadawatha – Kottawa Outer Circle Declared Toll Free

The ministry Highways has stated that the stretch of road between Kadawatha and Kottawa of the outer circle highway could be used toll free.

The ministry states that the toll free service that was made available with effect from this morning be so until further notice.

This decision had been made as several roads in the surrounding areas of Kaduwela are experiencing flooding.

Meanwhile four trains on the Northern line have been cancelled after railway tracks between Talaawa and Thambuththeagama are submerged.

The train control informed that the, Vavuniya bound express train at 3.50pm, 7.15pm and 8.30pm  Jaffna and Thalai Mannar bound mail trains have been cancelled.  

The met department states that the low pressure area is moving away from the island, hence rainy conditions over the island will be reduced to some extent, but strong winds will continue over the next few days.

Duty Meteorologist Darshana Premathilaka requested that the General public take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning.
