Enraged at her techie husband for checking her mobile phone, a woman allegedly slashed his fingers with a kitchen knife.

The incident took place in Bengaluru - the IT Capital of the nation - recently.

Both husband and wife have lodged complaints against each other. The police have reportedly summoned their parents to help smooth over the situation.

The violent incident happened on May 4, at the couple's apartment in Kaikondanahalli near HSR Layout, a posh area of Bengaluru inhabited largely by IT professionals.

But the incident came to light recently when the victim lodged a complaint with the police, seeking protection from his wife.

Sunitha Singh and Chandraprakash Singh are from Bihar, and have been married for seven years.

They relocated to the city three years ago and were working for different IT firms. Sunitha recently quit her job and was on a break at home.

According to a complaint lodged by Chandraprakash, his wife is addicted to her mobile phone and this had led to frequent quarrels between them.

The complainant stated that when he returned home on May 4, at around 11pm, he found that dinner was not cooked.

When he asked for it, Sunitha said that she had ordered food online and it would be delivered any moment.

The complaint said his wife was busy checking her phone throughout, due to which her husband allegedly abused her. This led to a war of words, and Chandraprakash snatched the phone to check her messages.

Sunitha tried to snatch it back, which led to fisticuffs between the two.

An enraged Sunitha went to the kitchen, where Chandraprakash allegedly slapped her. Sunitha then got hold of a knife and allegedly attacked her husband.

In the process she slashed his fingers, leading to severe injuries.

Chandraprakash dropped the phone on the ground and ran out of the apartment. He went to a nearby hospital, where he was treated for his wounds.

Bangalore police are conducting further investigations into the incident. (Indian media reports)
