Health Units Warn Public to Avoid Wading through Flood Water

Minister of Disaster Management Anura Priyadarshana Yapa says that unprecedented showers have been experienced in many parts of the island during the last few days. 

Addressing a media conference held at the parliamentary complex today, he noted the Cabinet has approved a sum of Rs. 150 million to provide relief for the flood victims.

Speaking during a media briefing held in Colombo today, Director General of Health Services Dr. Palitha Maheepala cautioned the public to be vigilant of the spread of communicable diseases following the floods, and also warned the masses to avoid wading through flood waters.
