Sixteen Missing Following Landslide In Bulathkohupitiya

16 persons are reported missing following a landslide in the Arandara area in Kalupahanawaththa in Bulathkohupitiya.

Police said that 6 out of 9 Line Rooms in the area had been destroyed by the landslide at around 10 last night.

6 men, 8 women and 2 girls are reported missing.

Police stated that search operations are underway to locate the missing persons.

Meanwhile, 150 houses were destroyed in the Saamasara Kanda area in Aranayaka – Kegalle, in a landslide.

Police stated that 800 persons were affected by the situation prevalent in the area.

The Army, Disaster Management Centre and the Police are conducting rescue operations.

Meanwhile, search operations are continuing to locate the 4 missing persons following a landslide in Ilukwaththa in Kadugannawa, Kandy.

Bodies of two persons were found yesterday.
