1200 disaster complaints lodged so far

A committee has been appointed to look into the current disaster situation and the organizing of relief aid for those affected.

The committee headed by the DMC secretary S. S. Miyanawala was appointed and discussions were held regarding the matter in parliament yesterday under the patronage of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe.

The Prime minister’s office issuing an announcement noted that discussions were held with regard to speeding up the relief operations.

Meanwhile, 1200 complaints have been lodged under the “Inform the President” programme.

Presidents Media Unit noted that the complaints were lodged contacting 1919.

The president’s media unit added that under the direct advice of the Presidents Secretariat, the necessary units have been informed to provide relief accordingly.
