Jaffna university students engage in a strange commemoration

An incident where students attached to the University of Jaffna engaged in a commemoration on university premises, displaying a banner similar to that of the LTTE map and its official flower the Niyangala flower was reported yesterday.

The arts faculty of the university had organized the event which saw the participation of all Tamil students.

Furthermore, candles were lit in memory of Tamil civilians who were killed during the conflict.

Meanwhile, a programme was held yesterday in commemoration of the civilians who were killed during to the final stages of the war in Mulativu- Wellamulli- Waikkal areas under the patronage of the Northern council Chief Minister C.V Vigneswaran.

During the programme he noted that such incidents should be looked into.
