Facebook is asking its Sri Lankan users if they are safe during the prevailing adverse weather conditions that has left at least 38 dead.

Through this update one could check if a friend or loved one is safe or affected, needing aid.

With the notification ‘Let your friends know you’re OK by marking yourself safe’ and ‘Check on Friends Quickly find and connect with friends in the area. Mark them safe if you know they’re OK.’
