The National Building Research Institute has identified 84 locations prone to landslide in the Kegalle district.
Addressing a media conference held at the Government Information Department this morning, director of the Institute’s Landslide Research and Study unit of disaster prone areas, R.M.S. Bandara said residents of the districts of Kegalle and Ratnapura should take necessary precautionary measures.
Addressing the media, Health Services Director General Dr. Palitha Mahipala said an outbreak of contagious diseases could be expected due to flooding.
He also said that all provincial and district health services directors have been instructed by a Circular to take necessary action.
