Search for missing persons in Aranayaka continues for the 5th day

Sixty four deaths have been reported due to the floods and landslides during the past few days.

The Disaster Management Centre stated that 427 thousand 918 persons have been affected by the inclement weather.

Meanwhile, the water level of the Nagalagam Street water gauge was recorded as 7.4 feet.

The Air Force, Navy and Army have all joined hands in rescue and relief efforts.

Rescue efforts are continuing for the 5th day in search of those missing following the landslide in Samasara Kanda in Aranayake.

Funerals of 6 persons who were killed in the landslide were held yesterday.

Out of 144 persons missing, bodies of only 20 have been recovered.

Meanwhile, Assistant Director of the Kegalle District Disaster Management Centre Mahendra Jagath expressed these views.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe yesterday visited the temporary camp set up at the Weheragoda Ancient Temple in Sedawatte.
