Tropical Cyclone Roanu has hit the coast of Bangladesh killing 21 people, while half a million residents were evacuated from the area.

Foreign media stated that the cyclone is 55 mile-per-hour winds and caused downpours of more than a foot in some areas on Saturday.

It has hit the south and southeast regions of Barisal and Chittagong especially hard -- damaging hundreds of houses and causing landslides, according to disaster officials.
