The World Bank has responded positively to a request made by President Maithripala Sirisena to provide financial aid to Sri Lanka under lenient policies.
President Sirisena met with 12 officials from the World Bank this morning.
The President’s Media Division said this the first visit by a group of officials from the World Bank to the Island in 34 years.
The World Bank is reviewing past financial aid to Sri Lanka and its use in the development of the nation.
The Head of State has informed the representatives of the World Bank on the current state of the countries Imports and Exports, foreign assets and foreign policy.
