The Disaster Management centre states that 120 thousand 129 persons displaced due to the inclement weather are currently taking shelter at 263 relief camps.
Deputy Director of the centre Pradeep Kodipillai stated that the death toll has risen to 94 while 107 persons are still missing.
Meanwhile, Minister of Disaster Management Anura Priyadarshana Yapa noted that they have received relief aid for the affected persons from several countries.
Director of National Building Research Organization’s Landslide Studies Division R.M.S. Bandara noted that there is a risk of landslides at 662 locations in 11 districts, and the relevant divisional secretaries have been informed regarding the matter.
