Weather forecast: South- West Monsson has established over the island

South-west monsoon condition has established over the country and several spells of showers will occur in the Western, North-Western, Southern, Central and Sabaragamuwa provinces, the Department of Meteorology predicts.

Showers or thunder showers may occur at several places in the Uva and Eastern provinces, particularly after 2.00 pm.

Strong windy conditions over the country and in the sea areas around the island will continue further particularly over the Southern, Eastern and Northern sea areas.

Meanwhile, maximum temperature during the past 24 hours was reported from Pothuvil with 36.7°C and the minimum in Nuwara Eliya with 15.5°C. The maximum rainfall was 32.5mm reported from Sogama.
