Reveal the truth – Aranayaka people urges the Government

The Collective of People Affected by Aranayaka Landslide says that the Government should reveal the truth about persons killed in the Aranayaka – Samasara landslide.

They said so while participating at a media briefing held at Gavilipitiya in Aranayaka yesterday.

Meanwhile, the Provincial Council and Local Government Ministry said that a special programme of providing relief to the disaster-hit people out of aid received from the US, was also scheduled to be implemented from today. 

A total of 119,683 persons displaced due to the inclement weather continue to remain in 256 safe camps.

The Disaster Management Centre says that by now 101 persons have died and another 100 persons are still missing.
