Substantial Development and Wildlife Minister Gamini Jayawickrema Perera says that some top officials of the Wildlife Department and persons acting in tie-up with politicians are connected with the incidents of illegally providing elephant calves to certain people.

The Minister said, this has been revealed in a report of the committee appointed for probing the allegations levelled with regard to this against the Wildlife Department.

The relevant probe committee headed by retired Supreme Court Judge Nimal Dissanayake was set up in December last year.

Accordingly the relevant report was handed over to the Minister in charge after investigations carried for a period of 6 months.

Minister Gamini Jayawickrema Perera said further that the report was scheduled to be submitted to the Public Services Commission in the future.
