Former senior DIG Anura Senanayake who was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department on 23rd this month has been further remanded until 9th June this year.

He was being questioned by the CID since this noon over the murder of national Rugby player Wasim Thajudeen.

It was reported that Anura Senanayake was implicated in a cover up, but investigators said he had closed the case as a road accident with the approval of then IGP N. K. Illangakoon.

Thajudeen’s body was recovered on May 17, 2012 in Kirulapone in his car which was said to have crashed into a wall and caught fire.
