Former DIG Anura Senanayake who was remanded in connection with the murder of rugggerite   Wasim Thajudeen has been further remanded until June 9th.

Colombo Additional Magistrate Nishantha Peries also ordered to further remand Crime OIC of the Narahenpita police Sumith Perera until June 9th.  Sumith Perera was also arrested and remanded in connection with Thajudeen’s murder.

Lawyers appearing for the suspects requested the Magistrate to grant bail for their clients when the case was taken before Court today.  However the State counsel informed Court that releasing the two suspects would intimidate the witnesses.

Meanwhile, former Narahenpita Crime OIC has informed Court that he wants to make a confession before the Magistrate.

Having considered the cause of both factions, Additional Magistrate Nishantha Peries further remanded both suspects.

He further stated that he cannot issue orders, merely to please individuals and, asked the respective parties to seek relief from higher courts if they are not satisfied.
