Officials say Illangakoon should be arrested

Politicians and Civil Organisation Representatives say that former IGP N.K. Illangakoon should also be arrested in connection with the killing of ruggerite Wasim Thajudeen.

They stressed that the former IGP can no longer evade his involvement in the incident.

The burnt remains of Wasim Thajudeen was recovered from a motor vehicle on a road in close proximity to the Narahenpita Shalika grounds on 17th May, 2012.

SP Sumith Champika Perera who had served as OIC of the CID Narahenpita Police and former Western Province Senior DIG Anura Senanayake were arrested by the CID and are being held in remand prison
