It is 15 days since the Samasara mountain in Aranayaka was hit by a deadly landslide. Search missions for those who were buried in the landslide are still underway.
Meanwhile, schools in the area that were closed for two weeks following the disaster, 17th last month, opened yesterday. This schools included Aranayaka Hathgampola Vidyalaya and its primary section.
Today 80 per cent of students attended school.
Most students were seen dressed in casuals as their uniforms and books were destroyed in the adverse rains.
Reports have suggested that at least 15 students from the school have died in the landslide.
Over 150 people lost their lives during the disaster, while the damage to property is not still assessed.
Sri Lanka Navy is still searching for the bodies, and 60 people are still missing.
A teacher at the Aranayaka Hathgampola Vidyalaya gave a heartwarming statement about the incident.
