Participation has been made compulsory for all parliamentarians representing the ruling party for the parliamentary session on the 8th of this month, where the no confidence motion against Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake is to be taken up for debate.

According to the ruling party media sources, the MPs have been already enlightened with regard to the matter.

All MPs representing the ruling party have been informed to attend the upcoming parliamentary session, whether they are in the country or overseas.

Accordingly, the MPs and Ministers who are currently engaged in foreign tours are to terminate their tours and participate in the session.

Meanwhile, a meeting of the ruling party’s parliamentary group is to be held under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena on Monday.

The meeting is scheduled to be held at the Presidential Secretariat, where MPs of UNP and the UPFA representing the ruling party are expected to participate.

Another meeting of the UNP parliamentary group would be held under the patronage of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe at 3PM on the same day.

A spokesman of the ruling party said the meeting would be held at Temple Trees.
