The Health Authorities urged the public in the area surrounding the saallaawa army camp to refrain from breathing in emissions from the explosion. 

Issuing a press release, ministry of health, nutrition and indigenous medicine adviced locals in Saalawa, and affected areas to seek medical treatment in case of any breathing difficulty.

The public have been warned to cover their faces with a piece of wet cloth while moving in the area.

The Health Service Director General Dr. Palitha Mahipala requests the residents of Saalawa area not to consume well water until clearance is given as, its smog, shrapnel and other particles could be mixed with well water.
