The Internal Affairs, North Western development and cultural affairs deputy minister Palitha Tevarapperuma and a group of parents of the Horana Govinda Primary School have launched a protest in front of the Horana Zonal Education Office this morning.
Our correspondent stated that traffic along the Horana Matugama road has been blocked due to the protest.
The protesters demand that an inquiry should be conducted against a teacher who is allegedly forced students to swallow foot rulers and pencils. They also alleged the Horana Zonal Education Director and the deputy director are political appointees therefore they should be transferred with immediate effect.
Meanwhile Horana Zonal deputy director Lalinda Jayasinghe has complained to Horana police that he was threatened by deputy minister Palitha Tevarapperuma last Friday.
