A fundamental rights case against Eastern Provincial Chief Minister Ahamad Nazeer has been filed with the Supreme Court.

A resident of Ganemulla, Attorney-at-law P. Liyanaarachchi filed the petition.

Liyanaarachchi says that the fundamental rights of the navy officer who was reprimanded by the chief minister and the rights of a school girl of the Sampur Maha Vidyalaya were violated due to the misconduct of the chief minister.

It is reported that the Eastern Provincial Council chief Minister and the Attorney General have been named as respondents.

The petitioner further stated that the chief minister should apologize to the navy officer and the school girl.  He also requested the Supreme Court to issue notice to the chief minister and that compensation be given to the victims.
