Three suspects smuggling venison of an expecting doe were seized by a raid carried out by Police special task force officers of Panwewa in Gonnoruwa route in Hambantota this morning.

The suspects were smuggling the stock of venison in a three wheeler.

The questioning has unveiled that the suspects were heading to Bandagiriya area to sell the doe.

Wild life officers noted that the doe would have delivered her fawn in a week if she was alive.

The captured stock of venison has been handed over to Hambantota wild life office by Panwewa Police STF while search mission in the area has cleared over 20 snares in the reservation.

The seized suspects will be brought before Hambantota magistrate.
