The Colombo- Avissawella main road was reopened yesterday at 7.30pm, after it was closed when a fire erupted at the Salawa Army Camp.

However, a minor explosion was reported from within the camp after about an hour, following the reopening of the road.

Meanwhile participating in a special media briefing convened last night at the Army camp premises, Volunteer Forces Headquarter Commandant Major General Channa Jayatilleke said that although minor explosions could take place during the next few hours, no harm would be caused to the people as a result of it.

The explosion was caught on camera.
