The no-confidence motion against Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake is scheduled to be taken up for debate in parliament today.
The no-confidence motion signed by a group of joint opposition MPs led by Dinesh Gunawardhana alleging that the Finance Minister had got this year’s budget passed by misleading the parliament and the people was handed over to the Speaker several months ago.
Accordingly while the no-confidence motion is scheduled to be debated from 1 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. today and the voting will take place subsequently.
The JVP has already said that it too would vote for the motion along with the UPFA group of MPs who put forward the resolution.
Meanwhile, reports say that it has been made compulsory for all Government Party ministers and MPs to be present in parliament today.
