Prasanna Ranathunga And His Wife Granted Bail

The former Western Provincial Chief Minister Prasanna Ranatunga and his wife were been released on bail this morning.

The couple were accused of forcibly evacuating residents from a land in Meetotamulla in Kolonnawa and selling that land, obtaining a cheque for 64 million rupees from the deal.

The couple was granted bail when they appeared before Colombo High Court today.

High Court Judge Manilal Vydyatilake ordered the release, on one million rupees cash bail each and another two surety bails of 2.5 million rupees each.

When the Case against former Western Provincial Chief Minister Prasanna Ranatunga and wife called before Court today, the two suspects were served indictments.
