The Ministry of Health has decided to introduce colour coded bags in order to assist with the control of the dengue menace spreading widely in the Western Province.
Western Province Director of Health Services Dr. Deepthi Perera stated at a media briefing held in Colombo today, that 4500 dengue patients have been reported this year alone.
She added that this figure is comparatively less than the year before.
However, the accumulation of garbage in the Colombo district, is a direct cause for the spreading of dengue.
Dr. Perera added that due to this, a pack of colour coded bags will be introduced for the collection of garbage, to encourage efficient disposal of waste.
