The Prime Minister has ordered that the allocation of funds for ministers vehicles to not go ahead until funds are allocated for the re-construction of  houses that were totally damaged , and compensation for houses partially damaged in  the Kosgama – Saalaava army camp explosion .

Reports say that Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe issued this order to the Treasury yesterday.

Accordingly the Prime Minister had ordered not to release the funds which were allocated through a supplementary estimate for import of vehicles for Ministers, until funds for the construction of houses damaged totally and for the provision of compensation for houses damaged partially in the Kosgama – Saalaava explosion are estimated and allocated.

A government spokesman said that the Prime Minister had taken this decision on the Good Governance Government’s principle that Relief should be provided to the people first
