Pivituru Hela Urumaya’s (PHU) General Secretary Udaya Gammanpila filed a fundamental rights (FR) petition against the police yesterday requesting for an interim order against his arrest on false allegations against him.

Seven persons including the present IGP and an Australian businessman have been named as defendants.

The PHU general secretary requests in the petition that the arrest be prevented since there is a possibility of his arrest in reference to the case taken up for hearing in court against him.

The relevant company owner had lodged a complaint in August last year saying that Udaya Gammanpila had swindled close to 110 million rupees.
