Ex-Narahenpita Police Crimes Officer-in-Charge (OIC), who is under remand custody for allegedly suppressing information regarding the investigations into the death of former ruggerite Wasim Thajudeen, gave a confidential statement to Colombo Additional Magistrate Nishantha Peiris this morning.
Former OIC Sumith Perera went in to the Magistrate's Chamber at 12.05 p.m. and returned at 2.10 p.m.
No one else was present inside the Magistrate's Chamber when Mr. Perera made the statement.
He had requested permission from the court to make a confession on four occasions. The Additional Magistrate gave him permission yesterday and ordered him to be brought to court today.
