Fresh dengue threats following rains

A total of 18,421 dengue cases were reported from January to the end of the first week of June, the Epidemiology Unit said.

Accordingly, 1512 cases were reported last month.

The number of dengue cases, during this period, has increased from the last two years. In 2015 and 2014 the numbers stood at 14,950 and 13,243 respectively.

Thus the highest number of cases was reported in Colombo district with 5,974 and 1,983 in Gampaha, 1,219 in Kalutara.
